Why is all concentration on the splash house getting top priority. How much is this fiasco costing the tax payers who LIVE here ? Where on the priority list does street repair come in ?

You ask why the Splash House is getting all priority? Your current mayor believes that the city of marion will prosper if it has a "fun" center. Before he was ever elected this was his priority. it was not jobs, it was not making the city of marion better, it was having a "fun" place for people to go. If you would drive past the place and watch as Keith Sullivan Excavting turns the dirt, you would see all the buried stuff that KSE is having to move and work around. It is totally disgusting that this mayor and his croonies on the city council continue to spend money like this, even if it is "Grant" money and look the other way while this mayor and his croonies rip the people of marion off. Wait, I just answered my own question, The mayor and his croonies are all in it together. If they are not in it together then there is no one on the council that has the intestinal fortitude to stand up against the corruption that is going on in this town.
By the way, welcome back to marion mayor. It was with a heavy heart that i learned that you had to spend your birthday "away" from your family doing the "peoples" business. I just think that is so nice of you to sacrifice so much for little people like me! I also just think it is so cool that you have been able to travel around the world at least 4 times on tax payer dollars and are bringing jobs to marion. I expect another "BIG" announcement soon about the jobs you are bring to town. Probably a week or so before the next election?
That Veriona thing is really starting to take shape out there at that "planned" development that you and your boys are working 16hour days on. The way it looks to the un-trained eye they should be shelling the corn within the next 2-4 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard from my people in China and Jayyyyyyyyyyyyypan that the people just went crazy when the heard that an Olympic HERO was coming to their conutry. Is that true? Can you enlighten those of us who are peons? Perhaps you should have the City Marketing director come on here and give us a virtural lesson on how to use profanity on the net.

I supported us getting a summer fun place for our kids and families. However, I don't think it deserved top priority. I was told that the money that helped to build the splash house came from a certain type of grant-bond that was money that was left over from Friendship Park in Matter Park. I wonder if the construction of the wave pool is from those monies and the money the Splash House has generated. Not too sure on that one.

The Splash House was not patronized by my family this year other than twice. We returned to Kokomo Beach where it was more kid friendly and user friendly. The Splash House I feel started off really great its first year but the two times we went this year it just sucked! So Im sure we'll try out the wave pool but I don't believe it will be enough for us to keep patronizing it and we sure aren't going to spend the money on a season pass.

Do you really think there was that kind of money left over from the Friendship park deal?

Even the new Y was built for to be the city's country club. Go past there any day of the week you will see a fire engine sitting in the parking lot. Now who is letting this type of crap go on in broad daylight on the tax payer's dime?

Oh let's build another 2 fast food joints to keep "the people" lethargic and pacified.

Don't not collect $200 as you pass go.

There was a comittee that found a state grant/bond where they could get money to build an area within a park that accomidated special needs children. There was enough left into the bond that they could write in Splash House because it would be a public park as well (even though we pay an entrance fee) because it could accomidate special needs. That was what I was told anyhow. I only spoke with a few people that had actually been looking for state and federal help since a group had been trying to get a special needs park in Grant County for a long time now. We don't need anymore fast food places-what we need are more retail and reasons for people to come to Marion to shop not just to get another burger. Those are the two biggest reasons why ppl do travel to other cities, is to shop and eat. Well we have enough eating places and most of them are fast food places that most big cities already have. What we dont' have are enough retail places where people can get clothing. There are too many empty spaces at our mall. The splash house is built-great it serves a purpose but I agree there are 100 things that need attention than a wave pool.

Nikki you do understand that all this grant money you keep asking for comes from our taxes don't you? It is not "free" money why do you think our federal government is so bloated?

Marion will never be a shopping hub they missed that boat years ago. Besides are you willing to have your city taxes, property taxes and income taxes raised to support empty buildings when all these stores leave?

Marion needs to become a hub with legit IT and medical companies. Wayne just said on Fox news tonight "we can still make things" well bring in some companies that want to make things then.

If I had money to invest in my company relocatiing or starting up it sure wouldn't be in Marion, IN.

I know exactly where the money comes from right down to even the Pell Grant I depend on for my own education. There are certain things our town needed and a special needs park was one of them. So was a pool; if we keep cutting things out for our youth-you can guarentee that juvenile crime is going to go up because kids need a places to go; places that their families can afford. Not all kids can join the Y and not all kids can afford even with scholarships the CSA. Not all kids are into arts and sports. However, we have a special needs park now and we have a swimming place. The issue I see is that money needs to go towards other pressing issues facing our city. The wave pool could have waited. I agree on that much. The wave pool could have waited.

the splash house is the last thing this county needed a large portion of the county is umemployed, shouldn't we be focused on bringing jobs to Marion and Grant county insted of playing in the water. Good job Seybold we ain't got jobs but we can go swimming, oh wait at five dollars a person we can't even affoard to do that.....

Has anyone wondered why the population in Marion declined? What is needed to keep the children there when they get older? No.

We hear grand plans on opening a "fun park" in what has tradtionally been the worst part of Marion. I mean, give me a break. Having somewhere for kids to go is an incentive for them to stay? Marion's problem is it's always been short-sighted...politicians of both parties rested on a "factory" mentality, and watched the 1950's go by...and then BOOM, welcome to the 21st century. Sadly, neither party has any real viable, intelligent, educated, and qualified candidates to lead the city out of the abyss it finds itself in.

Poor Marion.
