MARION, Ind. (AP) - The tree-killing emerald ash borer has reached another Indiana county.
State wildlife officials say the invasive green beetle has been found in Grant County in north-central Indiana. That find boosts to 24 the number of Indiana counties with confirmed ash borer infestations.
Earlier this summer, the insect was found in two heavily forested southern Indiana counties - Lawrence and Orange counties. The ash borer was first found in Indiana in 2004.
Large infestations of the insect have killed millions of ash trees in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana since 2002.
